Global helicopter MRO demand is projected to surpass $81 billion through 2033.

The 2024 edition of the Aviation Week Network’s Commercial Aviation Fleet & MRO Forecast projects how the world’s aircraft fleet and aftermarket will evolve over the next 10 years. The active nonmilitary helicopter fleet is expected to increase from just under 21,600 active aircraft in 2024 to nearly 24,300 in 2033. This increase in active helicopter fleet will translate directly to an increase in MRO demand during the same period. Required MRO demand for the active helicopter fleet is expected to grow at a CAGR of 1.29%.

The forecast projects that the market will be split heavily between Airbus, Bell and Leonardo helicopters, with the three accounting for 40%, 28% and 18% of the potential market, respectively.

Component maintenance is expected to account for more than one-third of all helicopter MRO demand at 35%, followed by airframe maintenance at 32%, engine maintenance at 25% and modifications at 8%.
