It is said that Adolf Hitler lost World War II on Dec. 11, 1941. That is the day Germany declared war on the U.S., following Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor. The U.S., largely protected by two large oceans from an attack on its mainland, quickly redirected its massive industrial capacity to the war effort.  And that ramp-up was on full display in our February 1943 edition, a 506-page behemoth stuffed with dozens of ads for military aircraft and components.
