EU Finance Ministers To Consider Jet Fuel Tax
European Union finance ministers are expected tomorrow to discuss the possible introduction of an aircraft fuel tax, part of a proposition offered by German Finance Minister Hans Eichel to pay for development aid given to poorer countries.
German press reported that under Eichel's plans, the tax would amount to EUR300 (US$389) per ton of kerosene and could increase fares by EUR5 to EUR10 for each flight leg.
