From The Archives: Pilot Report - Omega 2

This cover, from July 4, 1994, shows the Omega 2, a kit-built aircraft said to blend versatility and performance. The aircraft has a high cruise speed, and fighter-like handling of the all-metal aircraft mimics military trainers.

Omega 2 was designed for the growing sport aircraft market. Our pilot report found that the aircraft had docile handling with high-speed cross-country performance and aerobatic capability.

Our pilot Edward H. Philips flew Omega 2 with David Repko, sales and marketing manager for Logan, Utah-based Integrated Systems Aero Engineering, which markets the kit. Philips reported that the instruments and controls are logically arranged and the aircraft can perform basic aerobatic maneuvers such as loops, aileron rolls and spins. "Visibility through the canopy is excellent," he said.
