Philippines defense minister Delfin Lorenzana has announced that the purchase of 16 S-70i Black Hawk helicopters will proceed despite previous remarks by President Rodrigo Duterte that The Philippines would not purchase American weaponry. Lorenzana stated Duterte has authorized the purchase to move forward in part because final assembly of the helicopters will take place in Poland, and in part due to the demands of the end user, The Philippines Armed Forces.
