FARNBOROUGH—L3Harris Technologies Commercial Aviation Solutions is set to explore the production of full-flight simulators in China.

The company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Zhuhai Xiangyi Aviation Technology to discuss producing simulators for the commercial aviation market, it was announced at the Farnborough Airshow. The Chinese company, a wholly owned subsidiary of China Southern Airlines, is a flight training provider and simulation technology developer.

If the talks reach fruition, the partnership and regional production capabilities could help speed deployment of simulators and position the companies as significant suppliers to Chinese airlines.

“Together, we expect the Asia market to grow exponentially,” L3Harris Commercial Aviation Solutions president Alan Crawford said. “These exclusive discussions will explore how we can leverage each other’s brand strengths, production expertise and geographical footprint to meet ever-increasing airline demands in the Asia-Pacific region.”
