Commercial 2, an Embraer 195-E2 prototype, performs a minimum unstick speed (Vmu) test, where the aircraft lifts off the ground at the minimum possible airspeed and sometimes drags its tail skid on the runway. Vmu is a certification reference to determine operational takeoff speeds with a margin of safety for normal operations.

A United Launch Alliance Atlas V launch vehicle is reflected at sunset following a week of heavy rains at Cape Canaveral. Sometimes bad weather makes for nice photo opportunities. The rocket is about to launch NROL-52, a high-definition C-band communications satellite that is believed to be part of the fourth generation of the Satellite Data System, which relays data from reconnaissance satellites such as the KH-11.
