Vivaaerobus to serve Mexico City
Monterry based Vivaaerobus has announced its first routes into Mexico City, with a planned three-times daily rotation into the capital city from Monterrey and Guadalajara.
Vivaaerobus currently operates 319 weekly flights across its network with its largest markets being:
- Monterrey - 34% of its services
- Guadalajara- 12% of its services
The carrier will face significant competition on these two trunk routes into Mexico City, with several airlines operating both sectors. From Monterrey, VivaAerobus will face competition from:
- Aeromexico- 98 weekly flights
- Iberia (extension flight) 19 weekyl flights
- Mexicana - 72 weekly flights
- Interjet - 33 weekly flights
From Guadalajara it will also face the same carriers with the following frequencies:
- Aeromexico- 98 weekly flights
- Iberia (extension 12 weekly flights)
- Mexicana- 84 weekly flights
- Interjet- 35 weekly flights
Fellow LCC Volaris operates out of Toluca, the low-cost alternative in Mexico City so Vivaaerobus will face competition from alliance alligned carriers in Mexicana and Aeromexico, whilst going head-to-head with the only other LCC in Mexico, Interjet.
