US Airways open Anchorage route

US Airways has announced new non stop scheduled service from the east coast US hub of Philadelphia to Anchorage Alaska. The new route is to be operated on a daily basis with B757 aircraft from next summer. Reports of the service being the first service from the East coast to Alaska appear to be incorrect as China Airlines tags its Anchorage flight through JFK and Eva Air tags its ANC service through Newark with 4 and 5 weekly flights respectively.
