Southwest seeking to cuts gates at BWI
Southwest is in talks to give up nearly a quarter of its gates at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).
The airline is negotiating with the Maryland Aviation Administration to give up six of its 26 gates at the airport but has stressed this will not lead to a cut in flights.
"We will continue our commitment to Baltimore," said Southwest spokeswoman Whitney Eichinger, "In this day and age, you aren't really able to continue to hold space you're not really using. That's one of our biggest costs across the country."
