South African Airways opens Botswana link

South African Airways (SAA) has launched a new route linking Johannesburg with Gaborone, the capital of neighbouring Botswana, as part of its African expansion strategy.

Gaborone joined SAA's network earlier this week, marking the Star Alliance carrier's 20th direct African destination. It will link the two cities with twice-daily flights, with a single frequency on Saturdays.

SAA says the route launch is in line with its restructuring programme and says the flights will "further strengthen" its presence in southern Africa.
