Routes Africa 2014 - Why you should be there!

Routes Africa 2014 will take place from 22nd – 24th June in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe attracting the highest level of senior decision makers within aviation and is the essential event for all those interested in meeting with the industry's key players to discuss air service development to, from and within the entire African region.

Now only three weeks away, the 9th Routes Africa is expected to attract representation from around 40 airlines, 50 airports and over 15 tourism authorities along with a number of other industry stakeholders from across the region to discuss air service development.

Currently 36 airlines, represented by senior delegations, have confirmed their attendance at the event in Victoria Falls. Low cost carriers will attend in force with registrations received from the likes of Comair, Fastjet, Fly540 and start up carrier FlyAfrica.com.

The event will also see representation from the three biggest African Carriers, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways and South African Airways and from the Middle East, national carriers Emirates and Etihad Airways have already registered for the event. We will also see a strong representation from European airlines including British Airways, Turkish Airlines, Thomas Cook Airlines, Vueling, Iberia Airlines and Condor Airlines. Over 40 airport delegates representing 40 airports have also registered to attend the event. During the last two weeks new registrations have been received from a number airports and tourism authorities including Kilimanjaro International Airport, Namibia Airports Company, Tanzania Airports Authority, Ghana Airports Company Limited, Civil Aviation Authority of Madagascar, Zimbabwe Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry and Madagascar Tourism Board.

In addition to the Face-to-Face Meetings which are at the heart of the event, Routes Africa will open with the Routes Africa Strategy Summit, which will take place over two days and include a keynote speech from Tewolde Gebremariam, CEO, Ethiopian Airlines. Many high level industry speakers will take part in the Strategy Summit including Monwabisi Kalawe, CEO, South African Airways; Dr. Elijah Chingosho, Secretary General, AFRAA; Raphael Kuuchi, Vice President, Africa, IATA and Minister Alain St Ange, Minister of Tourism, Seychelles along with other airline CEOs and experts in the field.

Over the course of the event, we will also see Route Exchange Airline Briefings from RwandAir and Fastjet. Route Exchange Airline Briefings are exclusively open to attending airport and tourism authority delegates. Held in private theatres on the show floor and delivered by senior network planners, Route Exchange Airline Briefings provide delegates with an opportunity to gain an insight into their target & current airline partners’ business. They are the only place to further develop your understanding of the route planning function of airlines. Briefings also provide an opportunity for attending airports to gain an overview of the carriers, hear a valuable update on the opportunities the airline feels are out there and gain an understanding of how decision makers at airlines see the market place.
