Qatar to open three new Intl routes
Qatar Airways has revealed its intentions to serve three new international destinations in 2010.
Firstly, it will commence non stop scheduled service from its main base in Doha to the Indian city of Bangalore in February. There is currently no scheduled service between the city pairs. Indirect market share is currently dominated by Emirates which takes 54% the traffic.
Qatar will also introduce 5th freedom service to Tokyo, which will be an extension of its currently Doha Osaka service which is operated on a daily basis.
Finally, Qatar will also add a new 4x weekly service to Ankara in April. Qatar currently serves Istanbul (IST) on a daily basis, however no carrier operates between Ankara and Doha. BSP data shows that Turkish Airlines fly 91% of indirect passengers between the city pairs.
