Routes Africa is the only network planning forum for the African region and the 8thRoutes Africa event was officially launched earlier this week. The event will take place in Kampala, Uganda on 7-9 July 2013 and will be hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda and Entebbe International Airport.
250 key decision makers from across Africa and beyond are expected to gather at the annual event in 2013 to discuss air service development. . The event attracts a wide range of carriers interested in developing air routes in Africa with 20 carriers already registered including four of the top five African carriers by Available Seat Kilometres (ASK); South African Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways and Egyptair.
Other carriers who have so far confirmed their attendance at the event include Etihad Airways, Nasair, Mango, Rwandair and Vueling. Click here for a complete and up to date list of airline attendees.
In addition three carriers have also confirmed that they will deliver a Route Exchange Airline Briefing during this year’s Routes Africa These briefings, given by senior network planners, are an opportunity for attending airports to gain an overview of the carriers, allowing them to view, first-hand, what information the airline requires from the airports when making route proposals.
So far Richard Bodin, Chief Commercial Officer of FastJet, Kenya Airways’ Jimmy Kibati, Head of Network Planning & Airline Strategy and Cornwell Muleya, Chief Executive Officer of Air Uganda have all confirmed that they will deliver a Briefing during the event in Uganda. Airports from across the region and beyond have also been confirming their attendance with registrations received, so far, from Lusaka International Airport, Accra - Kotoka International Airport, Kilimanjaro International Airport, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Ghana Airports Company Limited, Cologne Bonn Airport, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and Livingstone Airport amongst others.
