LAN increases Madrid offering.

LAN Ecuador has confirmed that from January 1st 2010 it will increase its service from Guayaquil to Madrid from a dialy service to a 10x weekly service.

The three new flights will be operated with an extension to Quito. Lan Ecuador currently operates B767-300 on the route and faces competion from Spanish carriers Iberia and Air Comet which both operate between the city pairs. Iberia operates a daily A340 service whilst Air Comet operates a 5x weekly A310.

The annoucement comes fresh from the news that Avianca and TACA are set to merge to create a strong competitor to the LAN brand.
