Jet Airways to serve Qatar
Indian flag carrier Jet Airways will inaugrate new service from its Delhi hub to Doha, Qatar. The new route will be operated on a daily basis with B737-700 aircraft. Currently Qatar Airways operates a daily service with a mix of B777 and A330-200 aircraft.
Delhi is the Jet Airways second largest airport with 383 weekly departures. This compares to their primary base of Mumbai which has 607 weekly departures. Doha becomes the tenth Jet Airways international destination from Delhi, with other scheduled routes being;
- Abu Dhabi - daily service
- Bangkok- daily service
- Brussels- daily service
- Dhaka- daily service
- Dubai- daily
- Hong Kong- daily
- Kathmandu -2x daily
- London Heathrow- daily
- Singapore- daily
There is significant leakage between Delhi and Doha with Emirates having a greater market share through Dubai than Qatar which has the dily service. Over 100,000 pax travelled indirectly between these city pairs.
