Hainan Airlines applies for new routes to CAAC
Hainan Airlines has applied to the CAAC to begin scheduled flights to the following markets from Beijing.
2 weekly Beijing - Male - Johannesburg, operated with either Airbus A340-600 or Boeing 767-300. There is currently no scheduled service between Beijing and Male or Johannesburg.
IATA BSP data (Airport IS) shows that during the period Feb 09-10, over 32,000 O+D passengers flew the Beijing Jo'Burg sector with Emirates leading the way in terms of pax share with a 32% share.
Meanwhile, the airline claims it has received approval to operate nonstop Beijing - Toronto service, which would begin sometime this year. Hainan will compete on this sector with Air Canada which operates a daily B777 on the route.
