T2, also known as the "Terminal in a Garden," was inaugurated on Nov. 11, 2022, and began domestic operations Jan. 15, 2023. The terminal combines sustainable materials, Indian design, gardens and a 250,000 sq. ft. landscape plaza just outside the terminal. The plans help absorb carbon emissions.

Designed and developed as a Terminal in a Garden, T2 offers passengers an experience to explore the unique flora sourced from multiple ecological habitats in India.

Embraced in engineered bamboo, the terminal's interiors offer a contemporary yet classic ambiance.

The terminal also features a spacious indoor garden with rammed-earth walls and waterfalls, as well as hanging planted bells, adding to the terminal's unique aesthetic.

Walking through the terminal provides a sense of awe with over 6 Lakh plants offering a garden environment. These plants are nourished by a fully automated irrigation system. T2's design is inspired by the local area's lush gardens and landscape design.

T2’s design also features elements like bamboo, hanging planted bells and waterfalls.

The terminal features 60 an art collection from 43 artists celebrating India’s cultural heritage. Pictured, animated digital artwork by Tanya Mehta. Paryavarana (environment) or “That Which Encircles Us" is an animated digital artwork that brings together the components of Ritu (seasons) and Prakruti (nature) as described in the Atharva Veda. Both ancient muses inspire joy, love, disgust, terror and wonder, and are the ultimate muses of art and the Naurasa.

Artworks are at strategic locations around T2 and serve as beacons in a traveler’s journey, allowing passengers to pause, reflect and enjoy. Pictured: Photography on backlit glass by Ganesh Shankar.
“After a few trips to the forest, I zeroed in on making an image of a bamboo forest. It was an amazing feeling to walk under the canopy of bamboo trees and I wanted passengers travelling through BLR Airport to enjoy the peace and serenity I experienced,” says photographer Ganesh H. Shankar. While the image holds up the beauty of bamboo, it also complements the beautiful interiors of T2.

The new 255,000 sq m (250,000 sq. ft.) terminal is designed and built on 4 key pillars and reflects Bengaluru's rich culture, history, its nature as the garden city and technology hub of India. Spread over four levels, the terminal is built for seamless departures and easy arrivals that are facilitated on different floors.
