Entebbe named top airport in Africa

Entebbe International Airport in Uganda grabbed the limelight during the regional heat of the Airport Marketing Awards during the Gala Dinner held at the Royal Villas in Swaziland tonight (May 31).

The airport’s representatives, Tom Davis Wasswa, manager for marketing and commercial services and Christopher Kasozi, senior economic regulation officer at Uganda's civil aviation authority, collected the award from Routes’ managing director, Nigel Mayes.

The Ugandan gateway beat off competition from the shortlist of airports – South Africa’s Cape Town, Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere, Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta and Mozambique’s Maputo Airport.

Highly commended certificates went to Nairobi and Maputo’s gateways for their marketing efforts to airlines over the past year.

The airports collected their awards in front of over 120 Routes Africa delegates, including the Prime Minister of Swaziland, Dr Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini.
