CPH gains 7 new routes

Norwegian, the largest low cost carrier in Scandinavia, continues its expansion at Copenhagen Airport. Norwegian is going to launch new routes to the holiday destinations Tenerife, Ibiza, Kos and Athens as well as new domestic routes to Billund, Karup and Rønne.

Norwegian is intensifying its efforts in the Danish market and is opening seven new routes out of Copenhagen Airport; four for international destinations and three for domestic destinations.

"The great success we have had in the Danish market confirms that it is the right decision to expand our Danish route network. More than one million passengers on our flights to and from Denmark in just one year demonstrates that people are very interested in flying if the fares are attractive," said Bjørn Kjos, CEO of Norwegian.

Competition results in low fares
Norwegian, the largest low cost carrier in Scandinavia, refers in particular to developments on the route between Aalborg and Copenhagen, on which the airline has contributed to the intensive competition seen during the past year. Overall, this has resulted in more flights and lower fares on the route.

From next year, Norwegian will also operate domestic services from Copenhagen to Billund, Karup and Rønne, as well as new international services to the holiday destinations Tenerife, Ibiza, Kos and Athens. Services on the new routes will be launched in the course of 2010 beginning in January. All the flights will be operated by Boeing 737s.

33 Norwegian routes out of Copenhagen in 2010
Norwegian set up its base at Copenhagen Airport in late October 2008 and has opened more than 20 routes out of Copenhagen already during 2009. The airline is now the second-largest carrier at Copenhagen Airport. When the new routes have been opened, Norwegian will be serving 33 destinations out of Copenhagen from next year.
