Chinese carrier to drop Hong Kong.

China Eastern has announced that it will discontinue its scheduled service between Hangzhou and Hong Kong. China Eastern currently operates a daily service with A320 equipment.

Given intense low cost competition on the route in the shape of Dragonair and Hong Kong Express which offer multiple frequencies, Shanghai based MU will discontinue service from October 25th.

Dragonair operates a 3x daily operation with A320 and A321 aircraft whilst Hong Kong Express offers a 3x weekly operation to Hong Kong.

With falling yield due to increased seat capacity China Eastern will discontinue the route with no immediate plans to review the service.
