China Southern secures US$440 million grant

China Southern Airlines has said it will get a US$440 million grant from the government to aid its operations through the financial crisis.

The airline will now issue new shares to its state-owned controlling shareholder, China Southern Airlines Holding Co, in exchange for the cash injection.

It said it would submit a proposal for the share issue within 10 days.
