Avianca and Sky Airline Begin Americas Codeshare

With effect from May 31, 2012, a bilateral agreement of co-operation between Colombian airline Avianca and Chilean carrier Sky Airline to operate codeshare routes within the two countries comes into effect, complementing the agreement signed last October by the South American operators.

In this second phase of the agreement passengers flying from the Chilean capital with Sky Airline to Bogota can take connecting flights with Avianca to Barranquilla, Cali, Cartagena, Medellin, San Andres and Santa Marta. Meanwhile, Avianca passengers landing in Santiago de Chile can take connecting flights with Sky Airline to Iquique, Calama, Puerto Natales, Antofagasta, Copiapo, Concepción, Temuco, Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas.

Implementation of this codeshare Alliance with Sky Airline is an important step for AviancaTaca, allowing us to consolidate our route network and the destinations available in the south of the continent,” said Fabio Villegas Ramírez, Chief Executive Officer, AviancaTACA. “This increases the connection options and services for the customers of both airlines that travel in the region.”

Jürgen Paulmann, Chief Executive Officer and main shareholder of Sky Airline explained that the signing of the codeshare agreement with Avianca and Taca, was satisfying for Sky Airline as it reflects the confidence between the airlines and their shared goal of offering the inhabitants of all the countries involved a service with better travel options.
