Australian carriers given Fiji rights.

Australia has awarded rights to operate to Fiji for two new carriers, namely V Australia, a subsidary of Virgin Blue and Jetstar the low cost subsidary of Qantas.

The rights mean that V Australia can operate up to 6x weekly services with its B777 aircraft whilst Jetstar can operate 4x weekly services with A321 aircraft.

Currently Virgin Blue operates to Fiji from four markets in Australia, Adelaide (2x weekly), Brisbane 10x weekly, Melbourne 2x weekly and Sydney on a daily basis.

The only other carrier operating between Fiji and Australia is Fiji based Air Pacific.Operating Brisbane on a daily rotation, Melbourne daily and Sydney daily.
