Athens set to gain new services.

Three Turkish operators are potentially set to offer new services between Izmir and the Greek capital Athens.

The country's civil aviation directorate says the Athens route has been opened following June negotiations between Greece and Turkey aimed at increasing flights between the two countries.

Turkish Airlines, according to the civil aviation directorate, will commence five flights a week on the route from 3 August, while SunExpress will begin a twice-weekly service the next day.

On 1 October, says the directorate, Pegasus Airlines will start a thrice-weekly service. Pegasus, however, says it is not yet allowed to fly the route.
