Amsterdam Airport Schiphol will maintain charges unchanged on April 2010
In view of the current economic situation, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol will leave its airport charges unchanged on 1 April 2010. Airport charges are aircraft, passenger and security related charges. By keeping charges at the current level, the airport aims to help airlines maintain and expand their network of destinations to and from Schiphol. Passengers can fly directly from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to more than 260 destinations worldwide.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol welcomed 47.4 million passengers and handled over more then 1.5 million tonnes of cargo in 2008, ranking as Europe's fifth-largest passenger and third-largest cargo airport. Around 99 scheduled airlines operate flight services from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to some 262 destinations worldwide. The airport thus ranks as one of Europe's fourth major hubs and one of the two principal home bases to Air France-KLM and the SkyTeam alliance. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is a major driver of the regional Dutch economy generating on-airport jobs for more then 65,000 people. Schiphol was presented with the ‘ACI EUROPE Best Airport Award' 2009
