Amsterdam Airport Schiphol voted best airport in Europe

British business travellers voted Amsterdam Airport Schiphol winner of the Business Traveller Award in the category 'Best Airport in Europe 2009'. Birgit Otto, member of Schiphol Group's Aviation Management Team accepted the prestigious award at the Business Traveller Awards ceremony in London on Monday afternoon. Other nominees in the category 'Best Airport in Europe' were the airports of Munich and Zurich.

After the Netherlands, Schiphol's domestic market, Great Britain represents the airport's most important market. The first half of 2009 alone saw over 3.2 million passengers from Great Britain travel through Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. "We are extremely proud that British business travellers have honoured us with this prestigious award, which is all the more significant in view of the current competitive market. This will serve as an incentive to further optimise the travelling process by developing innovative solutions. We will also continue to offer airlines marketing support and will not be raising airport charges over the coming year", Otto explained.

During the upcoming winter schedule, spanning the period from 24 October 2009 through 27 March 2010, nine airlines will operate flights between Great Britain and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Together, KLM, British Airways, VLM Airlines, BMI, BMI Baby, easyJet, flybe, Aer Lingus and Jet2.com will operate a combined total of approximately 150 scheduled flights per day.
