From The Archives: A340-600 Pilot Report

The Airbus A340-660 underwent about 400 test flights. On page 56 of this issue we compiled a pilot report. Three prototypes of the 380-passenger transport have been used in flight-testing of the 811,300-lb. aircraft for which certification was expected in May 2002. The A340-600 is powered by four Rolls-Royce Trent 556 turbofan engines.

First delivery was planned for Virgin Atlantic Airways in June 2002.

In the pilot report you can read about David M. North's experience of flying the aircraft, see more images including the cabin's interior and the aircraft's specifications.
