Inmarsat Details The Forensic Search For MH370

So somebody finally confessed that at least one satellite tracked MH370. I recall asking about one of 6 or 7 nation's satellite tracking MH370 in this forum in mid March 2014. But the wild speculation noise was in full swing, overshadowing logic.

The fact that the ATSB and the IG have come to an agreement of sorts relative to a final resting place is truly meaningless. While Dr. Steel and the IG folks are incredibly bright people, and I assume the official team is also very competent, the assumption that the plane was on autopilot has to be made in order to calculate any final position at all. While Steel insists that the autopilot assumption results from the application of "Occam's Razor", the reality is that he and the ATSB are defining the problem in a way that allows them to calculate a solution. There is absolutely no reason to believe the autopilot was on. If the plane was being flown by a pilot who could make speed and heading changes, it could be virtually anywhere along the final ping arc in the Southern Indian Ocean.

One glaring error suggests the real 7th Arc is not where it has been calculated to be.

When seven satellites from five nations took turns last March to track a debris field of 300 floating objects larger than 6ft across including two objects as large as B777 wings (ie 75ft and 80ft long) then it is logical to consider the impact point suggested by reverse drift analysis.

The Chinese reverse calculated the drift pattern back to an impact on 8th March at 45.30 South, 85.30 East, but just three days later the Malaysians demanded that the JACC abandon efforts to locate those debris.

Problem however is this, the currently accepted 7th Arc is about 2,653nm radii from INMARSAT.

The debris field point of impact was a BTO radii of 2,976nm.

The difference is in the calculation because clearly for the debris location to be on the real 7th Arc then estimates for the official 7th Arc assume the wrong ACARS R-channel signal delay.

Here's my prediction for 2015. MH370 will not be found by the $60m seabed search along the 7th Arc. It will not be found until they look in the right place.
