Virgin Atlantic Airways plans to install Rockwell Collins active matrix liquid crystal displays (LCDs) on the older Boeing 747-400s currently in its fleet. The 8x8-inch display supports airport surface maps, vertical situation display, electronic checklists and a video card display designed to offer synthetic vision or video surveillance systems. The displays will replace cathode ray tubes (CRT) in the -400 models.
