The U.S. Air Force has awarded a contract option to Boeing Space and Intelligence Systems to complete the acquisition of the eighth Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) spacecraft. The $296 million option brings the total cost of satellite 8, including long lead parts, to $354 million, according to the Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles AFB.
