Star Alliance’s expansion in Latin American appears to have stalled, with expectations now tempered that the recently created Avianca-TACA would drop its connection with SkyTeam (through Avianca) in favor of TACA’s Star, and Copa Holdings seemingly happy to remain unaffiliated. Also Star has yet to open talks with Oneworld’s LAN Airlines about the future of its proposed merger with Star member TAM Airlines, although this could be more a reflection of the carriers’ own negotiations process.
