Qatar Airways plans to increase its order for Airbus A380s, according to statements made by CEO Akbar al-Baker.

“We have five A380s on order, and imminently we will order another large number of the same aircraft,” al-Baker told the Bloomberg news agency in Budapest. The Qatar Airways CEO was in Hungary for the opening of the carrier's new route from Doha to the country’s capital.

Al-Baker also sounded more committing to the Boeing 787 order. “We are going to get the 787s, and we are going to be one of the early recipients,” al-Baker stated during his visit. He had earlier hinted that he would cancel the order if Boeing was unable to deliver the first unit before the end of 2011. Qatar Airways has 30 787-8s on firm order.
