Puerto Rico's department of tourism has approached Iberia about increasing frequencies between Madrid and San Juan from five a week to daily service to handle growing vacation traffic spurred by Puerto Rico's aggressive tourism campaigns in Europe and the recent opening of a $150 million resort complex on the island by the Spanish chain Melia.
