The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) says its preliminary data shows that 2013 was the “safest year ever recorded” for fatalities on scheduled international passenger and cargo air transport operations for turbojets and turboprops weighing more than 12,500 lb. There were nine fatal accidents worldwide in the sector last year, resulting in 173 fatalities, down 54% from the 372 deaths caused by a total of nine fatal accidents in 2012, according to ICAO’s preliminary data. ...
