Swissair has taken five of its Airbus A320/A321s out of service after discovering cracks in the turbine rear frames of the aircraft's CFM56-5B engines, a spokeswoman said yesterday. Flight operations were not seriously disrupted as a result of the grounding, she said. The problem was detected during routine checks to an A321.
