AgustaWestland has completed autorotation trials on its AW609 commercial tiltrotor. The trials, using prototype AC1 in the U.S., involved test pilots flying 70 power-off conversions from conventional aircraft mode to helicopter mode over 10 hr., covering windmilling and autorotation flight envelopes.
