Air Arabia Jordan Expands Service

A GULF LCC—Air Arabia Jordan has secured all necessary licenses and regulatory approvals and will start operations from its Amman Queen Alia International Airport base on May 18. The LCC will launch four routes this month: Kuwait City, Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Erbil in Iraq, and Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt with more destinations to be added later in 2015. Two Airbus A320s will fly the routes.

Watchdog: FAA To Consider New Cybersecurity-Certification Rules

The watchdog, in a new report detailing concerns with cybersecurity in the transition to NextGen, says the threat for intrusion is increasing as aircraft cockpits and the cabin-share Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity, primarily through information systems connected to both the cockpit avionics and the inflight entertainment systems.

Hainan Airlines Talks To GE, Rolls-Royce For 787-9 Engines

Hainan Airlines is negotiating with General Electric and Rolls-Royce for engines for the 30 Boeing 787-9s that it plans to order, even though it uses GE GEnx engines for 10 new 787-8s it has in service, an industry official says.

The MIDCAS (Mid Air Collision Avoidance System) consortium trials, supported by 11 companies from five European states as well government agencies, flew a series of avoidance maneuvers using a fusion of non-cooperative sensors and detection technologies when put on collision course with a manned aircraft, the EDA announced.
