The aviation world is changing from top to bottom; those who don’t keep up are aced out. If you don’t have the right equipment, permits, and know how, you may not be allowed to complete your Point A to Point B objectives. Pilots are often left to pick up the pieces armed only with the notes they’ve gathered from the Internet and word-of-mouth from the last crew to make the trip. In both cases, the information could be several years old. The penalty for getting it wrong can be expensive and, as some have recently found out, can include getting on the wrong side of the law in foreign countries.
