JetBlue Airways, unfazed by lower-than-expected summer yields in Latin America and the Caribbean that executives blamed on increased competition and excess capacity in those markets, is pressing on with its growth plans in the regions, executives said. JetBlue increased Latin American and Caribbean capacity by about 17% year-over-year in the third quarter, considerably more than its competitors, which added about 7% more capacity. But JetBlue still plans to grow to 100 daily departures from Fort Lauderdale, Florida by 2017—with many of those flights to Latin America.
