Saab To Demonstrate Remote Tower Technology In U.S.

Saab plans to demonstrate remote-control tower operations at a general aviation airport in the Washington, D.C., area for a three-month data collection project beginning in June or July 2015. The trial represents the first application of remote-control tower technology for the U.S., says Ken Kaminski, general manager of Saab Air Traffic Management. Europe and Australia are either testing or putting the system into operation at several airports. Saab made the announcement at the Air Traffic Control Association conference in Washington, D.C.
