A-29 Super Tucanos Arrive in Afghanistan

The first 4 of 20 A-29 Embraer Super Tucanos have been delivered to the Afghan air force and are expected to enter service in April, according to a spokesman for operations in Afghanistan. “This will be a significant increase in their capability to provide their own close air support,” says the spokesman, Brig. Gen. Wilson Shoffner. The aircraft is designed for hot weather operations and rugged terrain and the ability to accurately deliver weapons.
