Pan Am Comets and other cancelled orders

RSS

When an airline acquires a new aircraft type, spotters and photographers are always on the lookout for that first aircraft in the new livery. But what about types that were ordered by airlines but, disappointingly, cancelled before the airline ever took delivery of one? With Skymark's recent A380 cancellation in mind, we got to wondering what other aircraft types had been ordered but cancelled before the operator ever took delivery. An analysis of Aviation Week Fleet Intelligence Network's Fleet database reveals an interesting array of airlines and aircraft types that fall into this category. Note that this list is limited to highlights from the analysis and does not include all operators or aircraft types.
