NBAA Odds and Ends

No NBAA convention is complete without the annual Dassault Falcon breakfast at 7 a.m. It was a full house (ballroom at the Peabody) and the food and service was great as usual. Dassault’s presentations (read that videos) are always some of the best that we see at this show. This year’s theme was “It’s in the DNA.”

They formally introduced the Falcon 2000LXS to the audience of about 500 people. According to Falcon, its class-leading fuel efficiency could save high-utilization operators between $280,000 and $840,000 in annual fuel costs. Among other improvements the LXS will get Dassault’s new FalconCabin HD+ cabin management and entertainment system using Rockwell’s Venue CMS components. Make sure that you read Fred George’s story in yesterday’s  ShowNews and online: Falcon Combines 2000S With 2000LX For New LXS.

John Rosenvallon gave a very fitting and short (and very funny) tribute to Al Ueltschi (FlightSafety founder) who died recently. He will be missed.

One other interesting announcement here was from business aviation community's newest member, the African Business Aviation Association (AfBAA). They launched four new membership categories as well as detailing their Founding Members list. We'll be writing more on this new association in BCA, so be sure to read our December issue.
