Aviation Week & Space Technology, September 7: Airlines in Brazil

Less than two years ago, Brazil looked like one of the most promising air transport markets in the world. But given the sharp recession in the country, airlines have to revise their growth plans and strategies. The industry will likely look much different when it emerges from the current crisis with some airlines like Avianca Brasil trying to take advantage of the situation to gain further market share while TAM has already announced drastic cuts to its domestic network. Azul in the meantime is starting to look at synergies to be gained in cooperation with its new sister company TAP Portugal, acquired by a group of investors around its CEO David Neeleman.
