WASHINGTON—United Technologies Corp. (UTC) is modifying a Bombardier Dash 8 Q100 regional aircraft into a hybrid-electric flight demonstrator. The X-plane is scheduled to fly in 2022. UTC is projecting energy savings of at least 30% and is looking at offering the conversion commercially.
