An order for 50 787s was placed by Continental Airlines in 2004, before it merged with United in 2010 to form United Continental Holdings, and delivery of the first aircraft was originally planned for February 2009. United's 787 is configured with 36 seats in business first, 70 in economy plus and 113 in economy.
