Talent runs deep in the aerospace and defense companies that design aircraft, run complex operations and engineer extraordinary technologies. But some people stand out for their multifaceted excellence. They are technically superb, exhibit strong leadership skills and possess a smart and fearless approach to business.

Aviation Week’s 40 Under Forty—top industry talent who are younger than 40 years old--—also are teachers and mentors: Nearly all of them mentioned involvement in developing younger employees or students in their community. And despite their packed calendars, most still find time to help others through volunteer work.

We sought your nominations for our second 40 Under Forty list earlier this year and selected these individuals in their 20s and 30s who will shape the future of their companies and the industry for many years to come.
