Love flying in the big A380 and also the competitor 787, so the comparison will be interesting.

Good comment. I might also add that from a passenger perspective, the A380 is a truly excellent machine: very comfortable and quiet.
Previous combat Saab jets include the J-21R, Tunnan, Lansen, Draken, and Viggen - all single-engine machines.
It seems a pity that the UK Royal Navy isn't able to order a navalized Gripen, rather than the all-singing F-35 that may or may not be flying off carriers sometime in the future.
