has added two managers – Chief Operating Officer Günther Butschek and Chief Operating Officer Customers John Leahy – to the company’s executive committee.
The appointments represent further integration of Airbus and its parent company, although fully merging the two entities is not foreseen.
Airbus previously had been represented on the group executive board by its CEO. But since assuming the top role at EADS in June, Tom Enders – who was promoted from Airbus CEO – has been seeking to strengthen his control over operating units, with Airbus being by far the largest.
Airbus and EADS already share Chief Financial Officer Harald Wilhelm and Chief Human Resources Officer Thierry Baril, and both of those executives have been members of the EADS executive board since June.
In this latest change to the committee, a new seat was added for John Leahy. Another new addition is Bernhard Gerwert, who replaced Stefan Zoller as Cassidian CEO late last week. Butschek fills the seat opened when Fabrice Bregier assumed the Airbus CEO role in June. Bregier remains on the committee in this new role.
The executive committee now consists of 13 members.
